Dog Training
All training is specific to you and your dog in order to achieve the best results possible at a speed that suits your dog’s learning capabilities.
I don’t offer group classes, as I like to keep it personal, but if you and a friend want to train together contact me and we can make arrangements.
One to One Training
I will work with you and your dog in your home environment to teach basic obedience training; sit, stay, recall, walk to heel. In one to one sessions we will work on the relationship between you and your dog and help you get as much out of your best friend as possible. All sessions are tailored to both your’s and your dog’s needs.
Behavioural Consultations
Behavioural consultaions are for dogs with more serious problems such as phobias, separation anxiety, aggression, destructiveness etc.
I will come to your home to discuss the behavioural problems you are having with your dog and to see him or her in their home environment. I generally offer a 2-3 hour consulation where I will gather as much information about the dog and his history. We will then work out a training program and schedule specific to your dog’s needs.
Puppy Training & Pre-puppy Preparation
It’s never too early to start training your puppy. Puppies are transmitting adult brain waves at 8 weeks old and while they have a very short attention span they are able to learn the basics at a very early age. I can give you easy training excercises to do with your puppy that are fun and will set your puppy up to be a well behaved adult dog.
Before you bring home your new puppy I can come to your home and assess the environment, giving you help and advice so that everything is ready and in place for the new arrival. I can also help with the adjustment period with other dogs, animals and children in the home.
Choosing the Right Dog
It’s very easy to pick the cute dog that is cowering at the back of the cage because you feel sorry for him, or the feisty puppy that rushes up to greet you, but that one may not be the best fit for you and your family. If you have a loud, boisterous family with young children running around then the nervous dog is probably not going to be for you. Likewise if you have little time for walks and training then the pushy puppy will more than likely cause you a great deal of trouble.
It’s important to choose the right dog for your situation and I can help you with that. I can offer advice on typical breed charateristics and what you can expect from different breeds. I can accompany you to choose your new dog whether from Sara or a puppy from a private breeder and help you make the decision on which dog is best for you.
If you use me to choose your dog from Sara, I will make a donation to them out of my fee and will offer you a free one hour settling in consultation at your home when the dog has been with you for two weeks.
